I Went Shopping.

Today me and my mum took a trip to the Edinburgh Fort and spent a lot of money in New Look and also Boots.  I took the opportunity of getting the 20% off everything in New Look with my student card (one of the many perks of being a student!).

I have a problem and it only comes to a head when I know I have money in the bank... I NEVER look at the price of things I intend to buy, because I know I can afford them (which is terrible, I know), and today I did just that.  I bought 6 pieces from New Look, which I will showcase in an array of (badly (nobody needs to see my face!) taken) pictures.

Long line white shirt dress

Top & Peg leg trousers

Leotard & Shorts

My purchases from Boots were 2 Models Own products, a beautiful Coral lipstick and Fuzzy Peach nail polish which I shall showcase in another post.

Tried And Tested.

Tonight I gave the marbled nail effect a bash and I managed it!  Not bad for a first attempt, it's not something I would do frequently as it is time consuming and you must have patience, but once they have dried they look cracking.

So here is a picture!

Forgive the messy nails

Marbled Nails.

Thanks so very much to Glamour Magazine for this little piece.  I shall be giving is a bash tonight, wish me luck!

To Dye Or Not To Dye.

I am unsure what colour to dye my hair(!?), I love dying my hair and change the colour every couple of months and this month is no exception.

Recently I have just been dying the 'do' a nice chocolate brown, but I am considering going back to red, I LOVED my red hair and I know I suit it.  Either that or I could possibly go back to my pink....?  OR just leave it and let my natural colour come back..?!  Decisions decisions!  I have a feeling that over the weekend I shall be colouring my hair(!).

Violet & Black.

imageHere is another small post with my newly painted nails.  I had no idea what I was going to do to them and applied the based coat of violet, grabbed the black and just started painting squiggles.  Has to be said I quite like them.

imageWell what can you say about My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding on channel 4 Monday nights 9pm?!...  A LOT would be the answer(!).  It is one if the best car crash TV programmes on at the moment and it features the lives of Gypsy families, their weddings and communions.

The show features different families each week and gives you more of an insight into their communities, which tends to be quite private as they don't like to integrate.  Last year channel 4 did a one off show of the same name and it's back by popular demand!

One of the best things about this programme is the DRESSES, wow!  God only knows who they can afford any of it, but they manage and they manage well enough to put on a show!  The girls are brought up for marriage and are taught how to look after their future husbands and the family home, the men work and the women are the mothers and home-makers.  They are a very religious community and there is a strict no sex before marriage rule, but people tend to judge these girls because of how they dress and even dance, which can be seen a provocative.

imageWhen it comes to the wedding dresses the girls will try and make them bigger and better than anyone else, the dresses no doubt cost thousands and a lot of time and effort has gone into making them.  They have a top designer of Gypsy dress making and she is situated in Liverpool, so the families have to travel now and again to see how their 'creation' is getting on.  Some of these dresses can weigh up to 20stone!  Can you imagine having to wear a dress that is twice the weight of you?!  No, would be my answer, I have no idea how these girls it, you kinda have to admire them for the dedication to the cause....

If you haven't seen it you should, it is an eye opener to say the least!

Best Buy.

Recently I bought a few choice items from and one of them was a knitted military cape.  I've been wanting to buy a cape for ages and I finally found this one in the sale in navy for £18.00, which I thought was a bargain.

imageIt's so cosy and absolutely beautiful on and it goes great with a pair of jeans or leggings, you can wear it with a dress or skirt, but you may end up looking a bit like a matron(!).  I can't wait to get more of a wear out of it when it's a little bit warmer outside.

So I Baked.

imageLemon and poppyseed cupcakes with a vanilla butter frosting to be precise.  And they were yummy!

I thought I would share the recipe and the pictures, enjoy;

Ingredients for the Cupcakes

175g golden caster sugar

2 lemons

1 tbsp poppy seeds, toasted

3 eggs

100g natural yogurt

175g butter , melted and cooled a little

Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl, until smooth.  Make sure you have a baking tray at the ready with some cupcake tins and that the oven is on, gas mark 4.

imagePour the ingredients into the cupcake tins and pop them in the oven for 20-22mins, once cooked, take them out of the oven and leave them to cool.  Whilst the cupcakes are cooling you can get started on the vanilla butter frosting!

Ingredients for the Frosting

1/2 cup butter, softened

1 3/4 cups icing sugar

1 tbsp light cream or milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

imageMix them together until you have a smooth butter frosting, apply to the cupcakes once they have cooled.

Once the frosting has been applied, tuck in!

Jack Penate.

I had forgotten how much I loved this song, not only the song but Jack. I remember seeing him at the Bongo club a couple of years ago and enjoying myself immensely, happy times!

Outfit Post.

This is my first ever outfit post(!).  I thought I would showcase what I wore on my works night out, so here it is;

Boyfriend blazer - New Look

Satin shirt - New Look

Cut Off Jeans - New Look

Wedges - Pilot

Cupcake Nails.

imageI love to paint my nails and this time I though I would try a little 'nail art' rather than just do the tips or paint them one colour.

imageI used 4 different colours a light mint green for the base coat, then I applied a layer of white using a wave motion to give it said effect, once the white had dried I then popped a spot of red in the middle of my nail at the bottom for the cherry and very last I added some thin lines of violet polish for a touch of 'hundred and thousands'.  Looking back on it, I would probably have not put the violet 'hundred and thousands' as it looks a tad messy, buy hey ho!

Post Festive Festivities.

I haven't blogged for yonks due to being so busy and ill, so I thought I would give it a go tonight.  I am still chocked with the flu and don't feel completely together, but I am bored and need something to do that doesn't cause me too think much, unlike doing my college work.

This little post is going to be about my works belated Christmas/ New Year night out which we had on the 18th Jan.  The night started at at Danny's flat where we enjoyed our pre-drinks before heading to our next venue.  We managed to book Walkabout's wee room across the way for free as we all work in the same building, the only thing 'we' (work) paid for was the buffet.  From there we popped along to the Tron for some more drinks, banter and a few games of pool, we stayed there for a couple of hours before going to our last stop of the night which was Opium.

imageA fabby night was had by all and I hope we don't leave it too late to have another one!

Jack And The Beanstalk.

imageAnother trip to the theatre was had and this time round it was to the panto!  I hadn't been for a couple of years and again these tickets were purchased via my mums work, so we managed to get them at a discounted price.  This time there was a huge group of us which included my aunties, uncles, cousins, their children, my mum and Jaimie, Jaimie had not been tot the panto for 20 years and was not looking forward to it.. But I dragged him there anyhoos(!).

imageEvery year at The Kings Theatre they put on a panto and this years was Jack And The Beanstalk which is running to Sunday 23rd Jan 2011.  As with all of these panto's they have they usual line up, including Allan Stewart, Andy Gray and Grant Stott (From Edinburgh number one radio station, Forth One) who ALWAYS plays the baddie.  It was hilarious!  The place was packed and the jokes were going down a treat as were the songs, the highlight of the show was that my cousins daughter was picked to go up on stage and help the fairy transform 'princess Apricot' into Cheryl Cole (Tweedy or whatever she wants to be called these days).

People may think the panto is only for the kids, but the people who think or say that are no fun!  I had a lovely time with the family and hope to be going back next year.

The Secret Garden.

imageOn Saturday 8th of January 2011, I went to the theatre!  First time I had been this year and that shouldn't really come as a surprise considering that we're only into the second week of  Jan...  Anyhoo's, we went to see The Secret Garden which was shown at the Festival Theatre, my mum managed to get the tickets though her work and we only had to pay a couple of quid for them which was great considering we had amazing seats.  I brought along my friend Rachel as I knew she would enjoy it and my mum brought my auntie Lynne, so it was a girls evening out!  The place was packed, full of every generation.

imageI remember seeing the film years ago when I was a small child and loved it, it is based on the novel The Secret Garden written by Frances Hodgson Burnett. I will have to read the book now!  The theatre production had a musical twist to it which was lovely and well received.  The set design was fantastic as were the costumes, taking you back to 1910 (when it was set) and the scores were beautiful.  I would thoroughly recommend going to see it, but I would bring some tissues as it is a tad emotional!

Paul & Joe.

imageThis is just a wee post about one of the favourite pieces in my make up bag.  Paul & Joe's Protective Foundation Primer UV, I have been wanting to buy a foundation primer for ages and came across this in the ASOS sale.  I picked it up for £16 and use it everyday.

All you need to do with this is pop a tiny amount all over your face and then apply your foundation on top, making it look so much smother and even.  It's translucent and won't mix with your foundation leaving it a perfect match for your skin tone, it's so good that you don't even need to wear foundation on top as if gives you a lovely healthy glow.  The packaging is very pretty which is a bonus.  A definite must have!

imageSo I have been humming and hawing over cutting in my fringe for donkeys now and out that found on they sell clip in fringes.  Well, when I seen this it went straight down on my Christmas list as a must have, I have grown out my fringe for over a year now as I got sick of always having to maintain it ( I am a var lazy gal!) and sought this as a fabby alternative option.  Has to be said, when you see them they do look like a bad toupee or merkin, but don't let that put you off!

imageThey are under twenty squids (excluding p&p) and the website is one I have used since the age of 18, so I highly recommend them!  You can buy them with real hair or if you prefer thermofibre, I have gone for real hair.  If your like me and fancy a change in your hair style I would invest in one of these for sure.  It takes a little getting used to, trying to get the right position, making sure it's clipped in etc...  But once in it looks cracking!

Jessy Wessy.

My friend Martin had been wanting a puppy for yonks and finally at the end of November he got lil' baby Jess!  She is a absolute babe and we all adore her, proper little girl who loves attention, snuggles and kisses.  She's a cross bread and is about 11 weeks old now, they grow so fast!

So, yesterday Martin was working a mid day shift and we thought it would be a good idea to take Jess out with the girls for some fun.  Lisa picked up Jess, then Claire, Rachel and myself, we first took her to HolyRood Park to get a run around and she was going crazy!  Dragging us about the park and chasing us with her teeny tiny muddy paws (and managed to get all of us!).  Jess is still shy around other animals, so we decided to take her down to the swans and ducks to see how she would react.

After the Park we took her down to Portobello Beach so Jess could wash all the mud off her and run about in the sand.  As I was the only one of us wearing wellies, it was me who took her into the water which was great fun!  We stayed down there for about half an hour before heading home, poor Jess was so sleepy and fell asleep on me when we were in the car.  I can only imagine she slept as well as I did!

Happy New Year.

imageThis is my last New Years post (for now).... And thought I would type a little something up about my night of the 31st Dec 2010 and the morning of the 1st Jan 2011.

We brought in the New Year at 'Klevins' AKA Kevin & Claire's flat, I always prefer flat parties at this time of year because town is too expensive and it's always too busy.  We had a nice group of us there, but sadly a couple of our friends didn't make it due to not being well.

There was a lot of food and a lot of drink that was to be consumed and I took it upon myself to eat and drink as much as I could!  I stuck to the cocktails, well I think I did... I was quite the drunk and can only remember snip its of the night(!), I started with a French Martini and then I moved on to some home made punch before my next 'tail.  We all got drunk pretty quickly and there was a lot of drunken banter, which is always a winner.

When midnight come we all gave each other hugs and kisses and singed Auld Lang Syne whilst rasing our glasses for the new year.  It was a great night spent with great people and am looking forward to see what this year brings us!

Another Year Over, And What Have You Done?

We're now 2 days into 2011, 2010 seemed to just fly by! So here's a small run down of what I did/achieved/etc..

I managed to have a few holiday's, Dublin, Aberfeldy/Isle of Seil, Perth, Nottingham and a day trip to York.  Seen a couple of bands, The Noisettes, Wolfmother, T Rextasy, Slash, and a couple other's of which I can't remember (I'm getting old!).  Got dragged to some motor sport races.  Finished and passed my NQ Tourism & Events course and after the summer enrolled into HNC Events Management course.  Executed a cracking event and made money for MS Scotland.  Got a new part-time job in a cinema and met lots of amazing new friends.  Had quite a few nights out and enjoyed every one of them.  Turned 24.  Managed to snaffle a couple of work placements for this year.  Moved into my new room.  Joined the gym and am sticking to it!

I think that's everything, no doubt I have missed quite a bit out of this list.  But I did say this was a small run down....
