Changing Rooms.

We (myself & J) are in the process of decorating our bedroom. We were quite ambitious when we said to our friends and family that it would only take us a week to do, not realising everything involved... Stripping the walls (Inc. ceiling), washing them down with sugar soap and that is as far as we have gotten(!) and there is still so much to do!
However, my Dad said the he would help remove the radiator, line the walls and any other DIY that we needed, although I have a feeling he will just delegate tasks!
The idea is to have the room finished by the time I start my new job (which is in less than a week), once our room is complete we are looking to make a start on the spare rooms and the 'Man Cave/Blogging Den'. Ideally we would like the whole house decorated by the end of next year, but with a 35 year mortgage, I think we have enough time...
At present we are sleeping in the spare room and in a double bed, with 2 cats... A double bed is fine, if your on your own and have no pets that feel the need to stretch out and take up most of the space, so you can imagine that we are desperate to get our room finished.
We STILL haven't decided which wallpaper to go with or what colour of paint to paint the walls, but I have decided that I would like 2 feature walls instead of the one.
I'm thinking, either the red or the gold as they are warm tones, I like the blue and the white, but I think they would make the bedroom appear cold.

If anyone has any input as to which wallpaper they prefer, speak now! I would really appreciate your feedback.

New Job.

Over the past few months I have been searching for a new job, something that doesn't involve me coming home from work with 7 new bruises and 3 new cuts... The safest place for me would be back in the office, so when the job for a Customer Service Advisor or 'Voice Assistant...' at Scottsh Widows came up I quickly applied, as my friend works there she also put me forward for the job. After nearly 2 months of telephone interviews, waiting, group assessment centre and more waiting, I FINALLY got the call on Tuesday. I was told to hand in my notice on the Wednesday as training started on the 26th November and bring in my National Insurance Card in for them scan.

New job, new beginnings! I'll miss the people from my job in the store, BUT, I won't miss the early mornings or customers asking for the 100th time 'where are the eggs, dear?'.

A Weekend In Pictures.

I haven't done one of these posts in ages! My weekend consisted of a Halloween party on Friday, Saturday was a write off; hungover/feeling sorry for myself and on Sunday myself & J took a walk, had a spot of lunch and I was treated to a massage by the man himself!

I Don't Vant To Be A Vampire.

That time of year is nearly upon us (Halloween) and yes it is time to start thinking about your costume and I have found the perfect one which is now out of stock on the Matalan website. First world problems at its best!

Just look at it! I could be a stylish Mummy sipping on blood themed cocktails, but no. Not unless they have my size in store or have my size restocked online, then I will have to resort the afore mentioned Vampire or a Zombie, my two 'go to' Halloween costumes.
 It's only £15!!!

Now, Zombies and Vampires are easy, wear an old/nice outfit and apply blood to said outfit or if you do not intend to ruin your best threads, apply blood over the face, neck and exposed body parts, always a winner... But not everyone wants to attend a party where the majority of guests have had the same idea as you (Yes, I know, the Mummy costume isn't exactly thinking outside the box, but it is something different for me).

I have been scouring the internet to find a costume that is cheap (but not cheap looking), not a Zombie or Vampire and also something that doesn't have the word 'sexy' in front of it. These are just some of the little beauties that I came across...

*The below costumes are going in the 'No' pile.

Examples -

Sexy Scottish Girl

Sexy 'Jackie' Sparrow

Sexy Orange M&M(!)

None of these appeal to me, sadly. Not even the 'sexy' Orange M&M... Which might come as a shocker.

Most of the Halloween costumes that are aimed at women are 'sexy', now if this floats your boat then go for it. I however, would rather be classy or all out bloody and gory and some of these costumes aren't cheap, which astounds me considering there is very little fabric! I think £15 is the most that I would spend on any Halloween costume and I'm just hoping that Matalan will restock the Mummy costume soon.

Thankfully I have a few weeks to get my costume in order, whether I buy one or throw something together at the last minute I'm sure it will be good or at least it will be covered in blood and Halloween party appropriate.

I caved, I have followed suit and made my blog it's very own Facebook page! It's still in the early stages, but if anyone is interested, take a wee look and even 'Like' the page if you fancy.

And if you don't want to, thanks for taking the time to read this teeny wee post!

Review: Chop Chop.

A couple of weeks ago I was asked if I would like to Review Chop Chop and the obvious answer was yes...

Now, the first time I had heard of Chop Chop was on Gordon Ramseys - The F Word and for YEARS I kept saying I needed to go, but sadly never made the trip.

So, on Wednesday myself and Jaimie made our way to Haymarket for dinner. We were super excited and could not wait to get there, we had already decided what we were going to order days before...!
When we arrived, we were greeted and seated by the lovely waiting staff and were given enough time to peruse the menu, which was a refreshing change from some other establishments.

Our order was taken and we chose, Northern Chicken, Chilli and Beef Dumplings (boiled), Chicken Dumplings (fried), Lamb and Diced Potato, with two bowls of egg fried rice.
My favourites were the Northern Chicken and the Dumplings as I'm not a huge lamb fan, but we loved every mouthful! All plates were empty and tummies were full.
The food was hot, fresh and arrived quickly.

It was quite a challenge for my OH to use the chopsticks, but he got the hang of it by the end of the evening and it was hilarious to watch!

The atmosphere in the restaurant was wonderful, the place was jam packed by the time we left and to see that on a Wednesday evening was impressive!
When a restaurant is busy during the week, you know it's got to be good!

I cannot recommend Chop Chop enough and we are already planning our next trip!

Chop Chop is situated on Morrison Street (Haymarket).

P.S. Some selected Aldi stores are now stocking Chop Chops tasty dumplings!

*Disclaimer - I was given a meal for two to review the restaurant. All views are my own.

4 Weddings & No Funeral.

In 2015 we (Jaimie and myself) have 4 weddings to attend. 4! One of which is a reception, one I will be a bridesmaid and the other two will be 'all day-ers'. Now, apart from the Susans wedding where I will be a bridesmaid, I have the dilemma of deciding what I shall wear to the other 3... I have been looking at one website in particular (Asos) and have found some stunning dresses, clutches and heels, all of which I would like to purchase. I thought, what better way to make sure everything suits, than to make a board on Polyvore (check out the website, if you're into fashion, you'll find this so much fun!). Here are a few of the outfits that I am loving and desperately want to purchase.
Wedding Outfit 1.

Dress - £115

Heels - £29

Clutch - £18

Wedding Outfit 2.

Dress - £70

Heels - £48

Clutch -£40

Wedding Outfit 3.

Dress - £100

Heels - £53

Clutch - £18

Wedding Outfit 4.

Dress - £59

Heels - £53

Bag - £24

Now, I already have wardrobes full of dresses and mountains of shoes and bags, but I don't really own anything that is wedding appropriate (though I am sure Jaimie would beg to differ!). All of the these outfits are over £100, but by the time I start look to buy my outfits then they should HOPEFULLY be in the sale... (wishful thinking!), because as most people know, weddings are not cheap and for me to spend that amount on an outfit would be crazy...

I Went Shopping Part 25.

I haven't done one of these posts for AGES(!) and felt that it was about time to do another.
Now, most of my money goes towards paying the mortgage and household bills, so, I've not had a great deal of disposable income to splash on clothes, shoes and accessories. WHICH MAKES ME SAD.

As we're stepping into Autumn I have been buying lots of jeans and jumpers (with a few dresses thrown in) to keep nice and toasty when going for my autumnal walks (which are the best walks!).

Everything you see here is from G21 @ ASDA, Primark, Matalan & Asos.

Beauty Buys.

Recently, I have been spending some of my hard earned cash on haircare and beauty products, all of which I have purchased from my work.
Now, I am all for beauty on a budget and when these products arrived I couldn't resist (I also get 10% off everything which makes it even better!).
My most recent buys have been -

Argan Oil - Heat Defence Leave in Spray

Argan Oil - Hair Treatment

Argan Oil - Shampoo & Conditioner

OSIRIS AVISÈ - CC Cream in Natural & Tanned

Cien - Make Up (Foundation in 1 Natural)

All of these products were under £3, which is an ABSOLUTE STEAL! The great thing is, is that because these are so cheap you don't feel like you have burned a hole in your pocket!
As with most of the things my store sells, these little beauties will not be around for long and once they're gone, they're gone!
I will say that all these products work a treat for me, however everyones skin is different and these may not work for other folks, so do check the ingredients to make sure that they will work for you.

How Things Have Changed.

A little personal post. To be honest, this is for no one but myself, just a little reminder to let me know that even though some days are tough, I am by far better off where I am than where I was and things can only get better!

This time last year I resigned from old job and was in limbo, I still had a months contract but wasn't going into work, so everyday was spent cleaning the house and preparing dinner (a housewife's dream!). To be honest, leaving was the best decision that I had ever made. For nearly a year I had been forcing myself to stay there, hoping it would get better... Then I ended up in hospital due to stress and was off work for about a week. I wasn't enjoying myself and you could cut the tension with a knife in the office!

I spent the entire month applying for jobs (mainly office based) and would hear nothing, so I started applying to retailers and ended up at a certain store. I wasn't that bothered about where I worked as all I was thinking about was being able to pay for the mortgage and bills. I've been there a year in October and even though I'm not keen on the 10 hour shifts, late nights, working weekends and the dip in pay, I am a lot happier there. The people are nice, as are 98% of the customers(!), there is no stress, no hassle, no pressure and no backstabbing.
I am still looking and applying for other jobs in the hope that I can get back into the admin/customer service career and also the possibility of going back to college next year. I am thankful that I am lucky enough to have a job, especially in this day and age.
The support that I have received from my family and friends has been fantastic and couldn't ask to have better people in my life.
